I started my career as a graphic designer in 2019. At that time, my tasks involved designing for both digital and print media. For digital, I created content for social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and others. For print, I worked on t-shirt designs, packaging, banners, posters, and more. Over time, the scope of my work expanded to include brand design, logo design, and other creative projects, including web design. This marked a transition in my role from graphic designer to creative designer, where I started thinking beyond just creating visuals. I also began considering strategy, the design aesthetic I wanted to convey, and even aspects related to running a business.
In early 2021, after handling a couple of web design projects, I realized that UI/UX is what I love to do. I always feel satisfied every time I successfully solve problems with my designs. Start with conducting research, explore the ideas, build the prototype and test it. For example, when we would start a project with something like, “Hey Muzakki, the checkout rate for our product is very low. What should we do?” I would say, “Okay, let’s figure it out. Is the price too high? Is there a problem with the UX? Is it difficult for users to complete the checkout and payment process? Let’s do some research.” I really enjoy that. However, I still prefer to call myself just a Designer because I don’t want to limit myself. Building a design or product involves many aspects to consider, so I still work on projects like brand design, 3D design, and .etc so I have many perspective every time I face the problem.
Over the years, I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects. These include web designs for company profiles, website applications, and mobile apps across many industries such as education, healthcare, software as a service (SaaS), law, and social media applications, and many more.
To stay updated with design trends, I’ve learned from various resources like books, YouTube, bootcamps, and design communities. I always try to stay connected, especially with senior designers from around the world, so I can stay informed about what’s happening in the industry, like the latest design tools, trends, why adobe cancel to buy Figma, and so on.
Outside of design, I have another passion, it is stand-up comedy. I do it as a hobby because I love writing jokes talking about what’s happening today, telling stories, adding punchlines and make it twists to make people laugh. It’s something that’s really fun to do. And I see many similarities between writing jokes and creating designs. Both require creativity and critical thinking to achieve the best results.
